It all started this way

In this blogg I will have the pleasure to give my point of view about the ash raining and the Agatha storm, I also interview Mr. Gustavo Flores, the manager of some private houses in the road to El Salvador. We give our opinions about how did it happen and what are some of the consecuences of this terrible disasters that just hit Guatemala. The worst part of this dissgrace is that both disasters were just separated by 36 hours aproximately. So here it goes and I hope you enjoy it and try to get involved in this tragic moments that Guatemala is facing, thank you very much and enjoy it.

Well what happend in Guatemala last week is very tragic lets start from the beggining, Thrusday night, about 7 o´clock, ash started to hit every roof in Guatemala city and San Vicente Pacaya´s roofs too. At that time the volcanoe was making bigger eruptions every minut, so the biggest explotion came about 6:50 aproximately, so the ash went up in the sky and all the wind that was coming form the Pacific Ocean wasn´t helping. This is because this strong wind was pushing the ashes to the city and to other parts or cities in Guatemala. Ash keep falling for about 1 hour and 30 minutes. After that, the country was shocked, it was very unusual that ash fall from the sky. The next day was very calm, until the afternoon, at 4 o´clock ash started falling again. It was like that for 2 hours aproximately, but this time it was not only ash, it was mixed with water, so in a way we could say that was raining sand. Fortunately that was the end of the Pacaya´s disaster. But the next day, saturday morning, was raining very hard and it didn´t stop raining all day, light was gone in all Guatemala city and some close parts of it. But the continuous rain wasn´t helping, lots of bridges and houses were now destroyed. Lots of roads were now with lots of ash and lots of mud with water, the most poor people were suffering because they had to live their houses. The goverment ask all the people to leave their houses and go to the closest shelter they have. That was Saturday and Sunday story, rain didn´t stop until Monday´s morning. So the country was a terribly hitted by this 2 dissgraces.

Well, here is the interview with Mr. Gustavo Flores, he tells us what happend this terrible days in Guatemala, here it goes:

*How did the ash rain and the Agatha storm affect your family?
Well, now, we have nothing. The storm took everything in our house. Wen the ash started to fall, I was working and my wife called me and told me everything, I was really worried for my childrens and her. So when I finally got home, my family, thanks God was allready in a shelter provided by the goverment. So i was trying to save some stuff from my house, like clothes and some expensive things as my weding rings and some money that I was keeping for an emergency. But in that moment, My house felt down to the river, my house was gone! now i got nothing, this disasters took everything except my life.

My personal conclusion is that, Guatemala needs to have more emergency plans, because in this ocassions we can see that We are not ready to handle this kind of disasters. So we need to be more carefull with this type of nasty ocassions. We have to obligate the goverment to create more contingence plans options.
